The richness of the Kashubian land has been appreciated by visitors for years. The source of their surprise is the unique combination of nature, history and the local folklore. This land is so attractive because of its seaside recreation, picturesque lakes and interesting architecture. The Kashubian diversity gives excellent opportunities for active and less active recreation.

Please find below the brief description of the most interesting Kashubian places and attractions, but remember – the texts and photos cannot replace the visit to this country. You have to come here yourself!

Hel Peninsula – where Poland begins…

A trip to the Hel Peninsula discover the richness of this relatively little-known piece of Poland. During the tour you can see the dramatic course of military operations in September 1939, to feel the fishing specifics of Peninsula and finally convince with outstanding achievements in the field of nature protection in the Baltic.
It is worth mentioning here about Museum of Coastal Defence, which very interesting exhibits are exhibited in the bunkers of artillery batteries ‘Schleswig-Holstein’ – the largest such facility in the world! A great affection arouse happy seals, which the Baltic population by involving Hel research facility was saved from extinction. Interesting tour accent is visit at the end of the Hel Peninsula, surrounded on three sides by the waters of the Gulf of Gdansk and Puck.

Heritage Park in Wdzydze Kiszewskie – in the heart of the Kashubian land

The idea of the heritage museum was born in the early twentieth century, when Isidore and Theodore Gulgowscy created public exhibition in the eighteenth-century cottage. Currently in the museum you can see more than 40 monuments of folk architecture from the period between the seventeenth and twentieth century: farms, cottages, mills, a church, a smithy, an inn and many others… Tourists also attracts museum picturesque location: by the lake, in the Kashubian Landscape Park.
The interiors of some objects enrich the interesting thematic exhibitions, devoted to e.g. Secret Military Organization ‘Gryf Pomorski’ – in Pomeranian region’s largest underground organization during World War II. In the restaurant, located in the museum’s area, you should try regional cuisine that despite the simplicity satisfy even the most sophisticated expectations.

Bedomin – Museum of the National Anthem

The former noble estate, where was born and lived Joseph Wybicki – author of the words of the Polish national anthem. Since 1977 the mansion is a seat of Museum of the National Anthem, explaining the song’s history, so important for Poland. The museum also presents many exhibits of the Napoleonic era.
The most valuable collection of this institution are patriotic exhibits: songbooks and sheet music of Polish songs, words of other anthems modeled after the Dabrowski’s Mazurka, different versions of the Mazurka from the nineteenth century. It is worth noting that this is the world’s only museum dedicated to the history of the national anthem. Visit the school trip will be an excellent complement to Polish history lessons.

Chmielno – Kashubian fascinating world of handicraft

Chmielno – This is one of the most popular tourist village of Kashubian area, and in our opinion, this opinion is fully deserved. Chmielno’s advantage is for example nature – village is surrounded by as many as five scenic lakes. It is in Chmielno where begins so-called ‘Radunskie Circle’ – popular water route leading by several Kashubian lakes. Every year we have here the Polish championship in the use of powdered tobacco.
The biggest Chmielno’s attraction is the Museum of Ceramics, which in a very interesting way commemorates the achievements and merits of the Necels pottery family. The museum institution is provided with a guide, who will introduce tourists in the fascinating world of ceramics. The program includes shows rolling the pottery wheel, pots painting and many others…
